Resource Management and Strategy (3)

If it is all part of the same game - strategy and operation, marketing and human resources, finance and technology - how than, should you play this game?

The clue is in understanding the difference between the personal view and the organizational or corporate view. However powerful management is and how talented individual (management) team members, they are never able to solve the complex resource management. Alone. Not by making plans, picturing a strategic path, nor by coaching people on the road.

For those of you who have glanced at the Corporate Values Assessment ("A Free Corporate Values Assessment") may have come across that specific value amongst all others that matter. But where different companies have different preferences, this specific value represents a stable factor for all organizations, because an organization represents a (big) team. (and the value you should be looking for is not teamwork).

It is about understanding that we are not the organization, but the organization should be we.

To make that happen you need to address this issue. Put it on the management agendas. Set an indicator on the score card. Make it subject to every team alignment session. Use it for every new employee you are to hire.

A corporate value is a value that is attributed to the whole organization. This specific value solves the main issue of resource management. The part that cannot be managed otherwise. Other than addressing it as a responsibility of each team member.
